I love places that are put together after a lot of thought and consideration. Route 42, a new pub and kitchen in Koramangala is one of them. From the decor to the food to the music, every aspect of this place has been wonderfully planned and designed.
I was invited to this place with a couple of fellow bloggers to try out their F&B and also learn more about their concept. It was indeed a pleasure to meet and listen to Mr. Ashish Kothare, who is one of the owners of Route 42. He is also the proud owner of other popular restaurants/pubs like Juke Box, Legends of Rock, Moscow Mule and Road House.
Let’s get into the deets:
The place has a rustic, vintage feel to it as it’s done up in subtle, dark shades of blue, grey, brown and black. It has two levels, smoking and non-smoking sections. The entire place has a very chill, casual vibe. I particularly love their graffiti painting of Bangalore, couches which has covers made of denim pockets and a cycle at the entrance that spells ‘’FOOD”.
Of late, there has been a drastic spike in experimental and fusion cuisine but the guys at Route 42 don’t believe in that. Their mantra is ‘’Going back to the basics’’ with their F&B. They have famous dishes on their menu, cooked wonderfully. Also, the prices are extremely reasonable and will ensure that you have a great time without burning a hole in your pocket.
Bonus? The speakers and sound system is designed in such a way that the music never gets too loud. You can enjoy some good, groovy music while actually having a conversation without screaming at the top of your lungs!
F&B (My favourite part):
We had the privilege of trying out soooo much food (not that I am complaining). There were cocktails, beer, veg and non-veg appetizers and main course.
Paneer cigar sticks– Soft paneer deep fried and served as cigars with a tomato mayo dip
Cheesy shrooms– Mushroom and cheese balls served with mayo. Can be made slightly cheesier.
Jalapeno cheese balls– Spicy jalapenos mixed with oodles of cheese. My personal favourite.
Chicken Skewers– Grilled chicken on a stick with vegetables. The chicken is literally cooked to perfection.
Crispy Corn– Deep fried golden corn, mixed with masala and topped with veggies. Went really well with beer.
Veg Pizza- Drool! The sauce, the veggies and the cheese complement one another perfectly.
Chicken Steak– Chicken breast covered in a peppery barbecue sauce. It is served with creamy mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables. Though the taste is amazing, the chicken is more bone and less meat.
Kheema and Pav– For all mutton lovers, this is a must try. The pav is melt-in-the-mouth and the kheema is minced beautifully.
I also had the Strawberry Daiquiri and Pina Colada. Both are not too sour and taste good. However, I do prefer my cocktails with a little more alcohol in them.
Unfortunately, I missed the dessert but hey, that gives me another reason to go back to the Route 42.

Service and Hospitality:
The staffers here are extremely polite and attentive. They are very well trained and will assist you with the dishes and orders. They go out of the way to make you feel comfortable.
It is below Batinda Junction and near Tilt and Happy Brew.
The final call:
You get good food and drinks that please your palate and your soul. That too at really reasonable prices!
Do you need a better reason to visit? 😉
